First Apegenine :
We have had our most successfull year and also our most productive. We started in march with Kaneel’s glitchy opus ‘ I’ve sketched it a while ago ‘ which had amazing reviews and welcomed Kaneel as a great musician and technician. Then we had our breakthrough album by Hunz ; ‘ When Victims Fight ‘ is a gem and it is our pride at apegenine to be able to showcase such groundbreaking avant-pop. Then came Portugal’s :papercutz with his genre defying Lylac and and single Ultravioleta, which featured remixes by The sight below ( Rafael Anton Irisarri /miasmah ), Spandex, Signer ( of Skallander /Type) and Neotropic ( of Future Sound of London /Mush, Ntone). Finally, we opened up our sublabel A.D.D. ( Apegenine Digital Distribution ) that will feature exclusively pay per download releases, with Connor Long’s ‘ Live at the O Patro Vys ‘ ( aka Khonnor /Type) and also offered a new free album as a christmas gift to everyone who helped make Apegenine what it is today, in 2008, ‘ Pillow Drifts ‘ featuring tracks by Emanuele Errante, label manager Muhr, Pocka, Coax, Shiftless and new apegenine artist Woodworkings. Connor Long, also known as Khonnor, Grandma, I Cactus and others if you’re following, came to Montreal, Canada in the fall of 2006 to David Kristian’s Rhythms for a rainy season CD launch and played this set to a small crowd at the O Patro Vys venue.This is the uncut, untampered version of the entire set in which Connor acrobatically entertained us for 55 minutes of beats, noise, humor, technical difficulties, hip-hop and idm.
104 releases ago, Ryan opened up what would become one of the most important projects in my life. Now 7 years later, he offers us a little more than one hour of his devastatingly beautiful and skulking material. Space dominates is a masterpiece of Shiftless’ trademark movements of faint light in total darkness. He tells the stories of dying stars and travelling rays of light. Of harmony, loneliness and grace.
Maybe sometimes we worry about the future, but take an hour in the beginning month of winter and rejoice to find in Shiftless’ music the hope he paints in the his dark, vast and heavy melodies.

What fun and pleasure it is to see an artist emerging from the netaudio scene ( we published his first ever ep on camomille ‘ le mini mini ep ‘ ) with all the passion in the world, and seeing him releasing music on the very hype Gourmet Recordings, published by Ed Banger, opening live for Squarepusher and showcasing his talent with the monome here on his latest video.

In life random or in this case, chance encounters are few and far apart when it comes to meeting people with so much talent, you seem there is no end to what they can accomplish. I met Lakou through various friends and learned of his amazing art. Much like him, his art is simple yet compelling, interesting yet enigmatic, classy yet gritty.
Bruno Pinto is one of those artists that lives for the artform. He has such drive and determination that he is an obvious leader, and his drive and passion actually moves you in stead of creating all sorts of stereotypical responses common in today’s vacuum of artists. His intelligence both musically and methodologically is inspiring, like his music, both oscillating between scientific precision and the organic, chaotic absurd.
Well when i bought this domain, like, what, 7 years ago, i tried genshi.com first but it was used already. seemed like a webdesign site, but i kind of forgot about it.
For the hell of it, i just went back today, and uhm, funnily, Genshi has a record label subdivision, a toy manufacturing subdivision, and ‘ 3 secret new divisions coming up ‘ .
